Got an FRT? Here’s What You Need to Know Before Shooting at Top Shot
Top Shot Indoor Range is introducing FRT Certification for shooters who want to use an FRT-equipped firearm on our range.
The goal is simple: make sure shooters can safely control their firearm, keep rounds where they belong, and enjoy the range without creating unnecessary risk for themselves, other shooters, or the facility.
Why Are We Doing This?
FRT-equipped firearms can be a lot of fun to shoot, but they also demand a higher level of control.
At an indoor range, accuracy and muzzle control matter. We have to protect the people on the range, the equipment, the target system, and yes — even the ceiling.
That’s why we’re putting a certification process in place.
This isn’t about making things complicated or putting up another barrier. It’s about making sure someone can demonstrate that they can safely and responsibly operate their firearm before using an FRT on the range.

Our First FRT Certification Event Is Coming Up
We’ll be holding our first FRT Certification event next week at Top Shot Indoor Range.
Over the next several days, we’ll be sharing more information about:
- What the certification involves
- What you’ll need to bring
- What we’ll be looking for during the qualification
- How to register
- Future opportunities to get certified
The emphasis throughout the process will be on safe firearm handling, control, and accuracy.

That may end up being the fun part.
Once we get the certification process underway, we’ll be sharing more from the range, including the targets and some of what shooters will be asked to demonstrate.
