FFL Transfers
Firearm Transfer and Storage Policy
- To ensure timely processing of firearm transfers and limited storage space, the following policy applies to all firearms received for transfer through our stores.
Transfer Notification
- Customers will be notified when their firearm has arrived and is ready for transfer. Notification may be made by phone, email, or text message using the contact information provided.
Storage Grace Period
- Customers have 14 calendar days from the date they are notified to complete the transfer and pick up their firearm.
Storage Fees
- Beginning on the 15th day after notification, a storage fee of $1.00 per firearm, per day will be assessed until the firearm is transferred or otherwise disposed of according to applicable law.
- Storage fees must be paid in full before the firearm is released.
Delayed Background Checks
- If a firearm transfer is delayed by NICS, no storage fees will be charged during the initial 30 days following the delay notification.
- If the delay remains unresolved beyond 30 days, the customer must maintain email communication with Walt’s regarding the status of the appeal, challenge, and/or background check process. Walt’s reserves the right to assess reasonable storage fees after 30 days or negotiate an alternative storage arrangement based on the circumstances.
- Customers pursuing a NICS appeal or challenge must provide updates upon request. Failure to communicate with the store for 90 consecutive days may result in the firearm being considered abandoned, subject to applicable federal and Texas law and any costs incurred by the store.
Denied Transfers
- If a firearm transfer is denied, the customer is responsible for all shipping costs, return fees, and any applicable storage fees incurred. The firearm must be returned to the sender or transferred according to federal and state law.
Abandoned Firearms
- Any firearm left unclaimed for 90 days after notification may be considered abandoned. The store reserves the right to take all actions permitted under federal and state law to recover unpaid storage fees and dispose of the firearm as allowed by law.
Exceptions
- Management may waive storage fees in cases of military deployment, medical emergencies, or other circumstances at management’s discretion.
Customer Agreement
- By arranging for a firearm to be shipped to our store, or by initiating a firearm transfer, the customer acknowledges and agrees to this policy.
