Why It Stands Out

Classic Pump-Action Reliability

The Maverick 88 uses a traditional manually operated pump-action mechanism.

Its straightforward mechanical design is one of the reasons pump-action shotguns remain popular among sporting firearm owners and collectors.

Mossberg Family Heritage

Maverick Arms is part of the Mossberg family, connecting the Maverick 88 to a long history of American shotgun manufacturing.

The Maverick 88 incorporates design elements associated with the Mossberg 500 series while maintaining its own distinctive controls and component configuration.

Durable Synthetic Furniture

Standard Maverick 88 Security models feature synthetic stocks and forearms that offer practical everyday durability.

Synthetic furniture is valued for its resistance to common environmental conditions and its relatively low maintenance requirements.

Traditional 12 Gauge Chambering

The 12 gauge is one of the most widely recognized shotgun chamberings, with a long history in sporting, recreational, and other lawful firearm applications.

Always confirm the shotgun’s chamber markings and use only compatible ammunition.

Straightforward Cross-Bolt Safety

Unlike the tang-mounted safety found on many Mossberg 500 models, the Maverick 88 uses a cross-bolt safety located near the trigger guard.

This is one of the distinguishing design characteristics of the Maverick 88 platform.

Practical Value

The Maverick 88 is positioned as an affordable entry in the Mossberg shotgun family.

Its combination of traditional pump-action operation, synthetic furniture, and recognizable Mossberg heritage makes it an appealing option for customers comparing pump-action shotgun models.

Perfect For

Shotgun enthusiasts, sporting firearm collectors, customers researching traditional 12-gauge pump-action designs, and buyers seeking an economical shotgun from the Mossberg family.
